Depending on the tribe, the carving style may look more or less primitive. Carved rosettes are decorative and common on these doors. Each animal has a symbolic meaning: the fish stands for fertility, the tortoise for stability, the tiger for courage; but not every symbol can always be interpreted, as some may be specific to a family's history.
Period: early 20th century.

Made of teak, this Indian door is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Outdoors, expect its colour to turn grey over time. The door has two large iron rings on the back so it can be hung on the wall as a decorative piece, for example as a headboard or above your sofa. Please take the weight of the door into account when choosing your hanging system. If you wish to use it as a cupboard door, for example, it still has its original iron hinges; you will need suitable hinges fixed to your wall (not supplied).

Dimensions: H 150cm x W 94cm x D 3cm

Material(s): Solid wood

Origin: India

Weight: 28 kg
