Old Indian door in openwork wood. In Hindi, this is called jali Or jaali (Mediterranean side, it looks like Moucharabié). This type of door allowed the ventilation of the room, because it was superimposed at the front door. C'is a door that comes from India, and which is old (which probably dates from the 18th century), in solid wood (teak). THE jali (The grid therefore) is particularly well done (at the time by hand of course) and without lack, in wood. Historically, the jalis In wood were gradually replaced by iron grids or bars, then more recently by mosquito nets. It is rare to find doors jali in wood which is as well preserved especially at their age, because it remains more fragile than a full door ... it also has the particularity of having several types of jali On the same door (braces at the bottom and scales at the top). This door has a beautiful dark green patina. We note an iron ring in handle guide and an iron chain also which allowed to close the door with a padlock (the original two).
Like most Indian doors, this door is made up of two leaflets, which can open inwards or outwards depending on your hook system. If you want to use it as a closet door for example, you will need to provide the appropriate (not supplied) hinges. The hikes (female hinges) are present on the door and original. As this door has no frame, it can open inwards as well as outside according to your installation. A fixation on rail is also possible. For use in wall decoration, two rings are already fixed on the back.
In teak wood, this Indian door is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. In the latter case, it is necessary to expect the color to evolve over time.
