In search of treasures
Passionate about exploring, our favourite hunting grounds lie off the beaten track: dusty basements, old warehouses and local antique dealers. We specialise in Indian, Chinese and Turkish pieces, and love telling the story of these objects. Several times a year, we travel through these countries to learn about and document the uses of each piece. We believe that a home is enriched by the objects and furniture it holds, and that a one-of-a-kind piece with an old soul is all the more valuable for bearing the marks of its past.
Our standards
We seek out one-of-a-kind pieces, rare finds with many lives behind them. We select them for their quality, guided by our taste and our intuition. We choose every piece with care, and so we never buy in bulk without checking each object one by one. We want you to feel the same emotion we felt when we first came face to face with an extraordinary piece. To do so, we believe it is important to buy wisely and to favour only pieces of quality that stand out from the ordinary.

We are Alicia and Ankush, the founders of Orpaï. Together, we founded Orpaï in 2021, a project that embodies our shared vision: to offer a carefully curated selection of authentic furniture and objects, where every piece tells a story. Orpaï is also our own story: the meeting of India and France. Today, we travel the world in search of the finest finds, carefully selecting every piece of furniture, every jar, every object to bring to life interiors that are singular and full of soul.
launch
We spent the year travelling across India and visiting many artisans' workshops. In November, the online shop is ready and the first container arrives home. Orpaï is launched.
the early days
From the start, we have been exclusively online... But in response to demand, we open a small showroom in the family barn.
First shop
After trying in-person selling at a few markets, we sign the lease for our first showroom in Cavaillon.
A new country?
We discover Turkey and its old pottery: it is love at first sight, for us as for you. A first container of jars arrives at the shop.
a new opening
Our stock no longer fits in our showroom... and as luck would have it, the unit next door becomes available. We sign and move into our new 350m2 showroom.
heading for China
After India and Turkey, we set off for China. Our first container arrives at the showroom: wardrobes, sideboards and old objects in elm and pine.
