This ancient Turkish jar was originally intended to store olive oil. Jars from the Enez port region, currently on the Greek-Turkish border near the Aegean Sea, are typically diamond-shaped, with a characteristic narrow base. Approximately 150 years old, the authentic patina of this terracotta jar bears witness to its past life, and its motifs are typical of Turkish craftsmanship. White in color, which in places reveals the original color of the terracotta, it has several decorative horizontal incisions on the lower part. The port of Enez was a strategic location for products such as olive oil which were exported to the Greek islands and the Black Sea. Jar in very good condition. It stands alone on its base.
