This farm cart wheel comes from rural areas in northern India. It is the ancestor of the ray wheel: the British Empire having started to modernize the roads in India from the half of the 19th century, the full wheels gradually gave way to the shelves, even if we still finds it today in remote rural regions.
This wheel was roughly shaped from a tree trunk; Its slits and crevices are natural, and have been able to increase over time. The grooves that we see were however sculpted by the hand of man and are of origin. All of this wheel, an inimitable decorative piece.
