One-of-a-kind pieceKantha is a traditional textile art: old saris and worn fabrics assembled by the women of West Bengal and Bangladesh. The fabrics are layered and joined with a simple embroidery stitch, the kantha stitch, which may or may not form dotted patterns. This technique produces a padded, reversible fabric that was traditionally used as a winter quilt. The tighter and more regular the stitch, the heavier the kantha, and the longer it takes to make. Modern kanthas generally have two layers of fabric, whereas old ones usually have more. The top layer may show signs of wear, revealing the fabric beneath, which creates gradations of colour.
Originally, this technique was a way of turning old into new. The combination of coloured fabrics, the choice of thread colour and patches, and the addition of sari borders are the fruit of the artisan's creativity, which makes each kantha a one-of-a-kind piece.
At home, use it as a bedspread or as a throw on your sofa or armchair to add a touch of colour to your interior.
Our kanthas are machine washable; however, given the age of the textiles, we recommend limiting the number of washes so as not to wear the fabric more than necessary.

More about how your order is prepared
Careful, reused packaging
Your parcel is prepared in our warehouse in France. As most of our pieces are one of a kind, the packaging has to be made to measure, which takes a little longer than for standard products. The item is protected and packed in a cardboard box for the safest possible shipping.
The little extra? We reuse packaging as much as possible to reduce our impact on the planet.
collection by the carrier
Once your order has been prepared, the carrier chosen at checkout is notified and your parcel is collected the next working day.
The carriers we use most often are Chronopost, Colissimo or UPS for home deliveries. For pickup point deliveries, we offer the Mondial Relay and Chrono Shop2Shop networks.
notification from the carrier
You will then receive an e-mail from us with delivery tracking, in the form of a link to the carrier's tracking page.
