One-of-a-kind piece
Description

This large old tray made of woven plant fibres was used in various regions of southern China for sorting, withering and airing tea leaves after picking. Archive photographs, some of them taken in Canton (Guangzhou), show these trays being used in the first stages of tea preparation, with the leaves spread out to lose part of their moisture before processing.
Entirely handmade, this tray features a fine, tight weave, offering a stable surface while allowing good air circulation. Its reinforced rim provides rigidity and makes it easy to handle during the various stages of tea processing.
This type of tray was widespread in the farming and trading regions linked to tea production. Today it shows a natural patina resulting from use and the ageing of the fibres.
Now removed from its original purpose, it can be used as a decorative object, on its own or combined with other old trays hung on the wall, creating a graphic and textured composition.

  • Dimensions: H 4cm x W 90cm x D 90cm
  • Material(s): Bamboo
  • Origin: China
  • Period: 20th century

Careful, reused packaging

Your parcel is prepared in our warehouse in France. As most of our pieces are one of a kind, the packaging has to be made to measure, which takes a little longer than for standard products. The item is protected and packed in a cardboard box for the safest possible shipping.

The little extra? We reuse packaging as much as possible to reduce our impact on the planet.

step 01

collection by the carrier

Once your order has been prepared, the carrier chosen at checkout is notified and your parcel is collected the next working day.

The carriers we use most often are Chronopost, Colissimo or UPS for home deliveries. For pickup point deliveries, we offer the Mondial Relay and Chrono Shop2Shop networks.

step 02

notification from the carrier

You will then receive an e-mail from us with delivery tracking, in the form of a link to the carrier's tracking page.
