Sindoor - Karnataka vibuthi box n ° 20

This box was used to keep the sacred ashes, used as Tikka, symbolizing the power of Lord Krishna in Hinduism.
These ashes bore the name of Vibuthi, or Bhasma. The ashes are like a reminder that our existence is ephemeral. Originally, three wooden lingams were fixed in the holes on the lid of the box, now missing. This box is made of Jacquier, and probably comes from Karnataka.
