Tambe - Large patinated copper temple jar
Handmade
Antique
One-of-a-kind pieceThis impressive copper jar comes from India and was very probably used in a ritual setting or in a temple, given its imposing size and weight. Entirely shaped by hand from solid copper, it has a rounded body, a narrow neck and a flared rim, a traditional form intended to hold sacred water (jal), ghee or offerings, or even to cook meals for worshippers.
Its surface displays a rich old patina, the result of many years of use and devotion. The faint hammer marks and natural irregularities reflect the craftsmanship of its maker, while the darkened sheen underlines its age and authenticity.
