Indian sideboard carved in solid wood and brass buttons.

THE damchiya was the traditional chest containing the dowry that the Indian bride took with her to settle in with her husband. It was made at the request of the bride's family, in preparation for the wedding. Each piece is therefore unique!

Traditionally these sideboards are painted in bright colors. This was stripped, then bleached to give it a touch of modernity. It has a door and a drawer. You will also find several hidden trapdoors inside.

This is a vintage, second-hand piece, traces of use are present, which contributes to its uniqueness and charm.
